Emergency Vehicle Trailer & UTV Operations - Emergency Vehicle Trailer & UTV Operations This four-day comprehensive training course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and decision-making abilities required for the safe operation of emergency vehicles, trailers, and utility terrain vehicles (UTVs). The course emphasizes risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and real-world operational readiness for personnel who operate vehicles in emergency and non-emergency environments.
Participants will receive in-depth instruction on safe driving principles, emergency response operations, vehicle dynamics, defensive driving strategies, and situational awareness. The course also addresses the unique handling characteristics and safety considerations associated with towing trailers and operating UTVs in varied terrain and emergency conditions. 32 hours
Training includes classroom instruction, practical discussions, and performance-based learning aligned with industry best practices and nationally recognized safety standards. Emphasis is placed on liability reduction, accident prevention, and compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
At the conclusion of the course, participants will complete a VFIS testing and evaluation process to assess comprehension and competency. Upon successful completion, participants will receive both a VFIS Certification and a New Mexico Firefighters Training Academy (NMFTA) Course Completion Certificate.

Fire Inspector - Fire Inspector This comprehensive 80-hour course prepares participants to meet the requirements of the new NFPA 1030, Chapter 7 Fire Inspector Standard. Using the IFSTA Fire Inspection and Code Enforcement, 9th Edition, students will learn essential skills for conducting fire inspections, enforcing codes, and ensuring fire safety compliance. Developed and delivered by the New Mexico Office of Superintendent of Insurance, the course is designed to help homeowners, insurance professionals, real estate stakeholders, local officials, and community leaders better understand how mitigation efforts can reduce wildfire risk and improve property insurability.

NFA-EMS Functions in ICS - NFA-EMS Functions in ICS In this 2-day course, students will practice use of the Incident Command System (ICS) in coordination with other public safety responders.

As a follow-up to ICS-100 and ICS-200 training, this course will present scenarios requiring responders to structure their EMS resources within the guidance of National Incident Management System ICS as appropriate to the needs of the different incident types.

Through simulation and role-playing, students will demonstrate the implementation of EMS components in an ICS at medium- or large-sized incidents.

Structural Tactics - Structural Tactics This 40-hour intensive course is designed for experienced firefighters seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge in advanced structural fire tactics and operations. Through a combination of classroom instruction and live fire evolutions, students will learn advanced strategies for size-up, fire attack, ventilation, search and rescue, and incident command in complex structural environments. Emphasis will be placed on tactical decision-making, team coordination, and safety considerations in high-risk scenarios.
Students will actively participate in live fire drills to apply techniques in real-world conditions, simulating actual fireground operations. Participants are required to bring NFPA-compliant personal protective equipment (PPE) as the course involves live fire training.
By the end of the course, students will be better prepared to lead and execute advanced fireground operations with confidence and enhanced tactical effectiveness.

Traffic Incident Management - Traffic Incident Management The 4-hour National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training course teaches the responder how to safely and quickly clear traffic incidents. Traffic incident responders include emergency medical service (EMS), transportation and public works, fire and rescue, law enforcement, towing and recovery, and other professionals who support traffic incident management.
Efficient incident response requires seamless collaboration and coordination among responders to meet the needs of those injured, ensure the safety of responders and road users, quickly clear the incident, and prevent secondary crashes.
The National TIM Responder Training course covers notification and scene size-up, safe vehicle positioning, scene safety, command responsibilities, traffic management, special circumstances, and clearance and termination. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Use a common set of practices and advance standards across all responder disciplines.
Be equipped with a set of core competencies and strengthen TIM programs in the areas of responder safety; safe, quick clearance; and prompt, reliable, and interoperable communications.

Water Shuttle - Water Shutle In this course, we’ll explore the basics of the rural water shuttle and how it can benefit your community. This course will discuss drop tanks, nurse tender and rural hitch. We will outline the advantages and disadvantages of each. The course consists of two hours of lecture which will diagram the processes and six hours of firegrounds training using the proper apparatus and equipment along with standard safety requirements.
