This 80-hour, instructor-led, in-person course provides comprehensive training on the requirements, procedures, and practical applications outlined in NFPA 1010, Chapter 8. Through classroom instruction, hands-on exercises, and scenario-based training, participants will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively in accordance with applicable standards and departmental policies. Training will emphasize hazard recognition, risk assessment, operational procedures, equipment use, safety protocols, and practical skill development. Students will participate in live evolutions and field exercises designed to reinforce classroom concepts and demonstrate competency in the performance objectives identified within the chapter. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Full PPE is required for all practical training sessions and must be worn whenever directed by instructors. Participants are responsible for ensuring their PPE is serviceable, compliant with applicable standards, and available throughout the course.

Fire Service Instructor III
|
This 40-hour course is designed to train the student as outlined in NFPA 1041, Fire Service Professional Qualifications. Course includes IFSAC Certification. The Fire Service Instructor III shall meet the requirements for Fire Service Instructor II and the JPRs (Job Performance Requirements) defined in Sections 6.2 through 6.5. Fire Service Instructor III course is a forty (40) hour course designed to focus on the knowledge and skills needed to develop comprehensive training curricula and programs for use by single or multiple organizations; conduct organization needs analysis; and develop training goals and implementation strategies. The course also focuses on the concepts needed to effectively manage a training program in addition to conducting course/program evaluation procedures to determine program validity and reliability. It is strongly recommended that students bring a laptop computer for use during this class. Minimum Enrollment: 10; Maximum Enrollment: 14. Prerequisite: Fire Service Instructor II. Firefighter I/II Combo Hybrid

This 120-hour course provides foundational training in accordance with Chapters 6 and 7 of National Fire Protection Association NFPA 1010. The program is designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for entry-level fire service personnel through a combination of online instruction, classroom discussion, hands-on practical training, and competency-based testing. Students will complete online learning modules covering fire service principles, safety practices, fire behavior, equipment use, communications, and operational procedures. In-person sessions will focus on practical skill development, including hose handling, ladders, forcible entry, search and rescue, ventilation, water supply, fire attack, and other structural firefighting evolutions aligned with NFPA standards. Students must successfully complete written examinations and practical skills evaluations to demonstrate competency. Due to the physical nature of the training, full structural personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required during all live skills sessions and testing activities. Full protective clothing is required. PPE must comply with NFPA Standards and must pass inspection by Academy staff. Proper clothing must be worn under the student’s protective clothing. This includes full-length pants and long-sleeve shirt made from at least 100% natural fibers or Nomex equivalent. Coveralls may be worn in place of the full-length pants and long- sleeve shirt. This intermediate-level, 6-day course will assist students in verifying that construction documents comply with applicable building and fire codes for fire protection and life safety requirements.
Subjects addressed in the course include:
Site plan reviews for emergency apparatus access, water supply and hydrants for fire protection. Review of architectural drawings for construction requirements, means of egress for life safety, and fire-resistive compartmentalization. Evaluation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
